Cable carrier for a tube bending machine at Tebunus Tube Bending

Tebunus Tube Bending bends tubes on large machines. On a machine like this, a carriage moves over a long travel length along the machine bed, and the hydraulic hoses and electrical cables move with it. They have to follow the full stroke without kinking, chafing or dragging across the floor.

The environment makes that difficult. Tube bending releases oil, grease and metal debris, which settles on everything along the machine. Loose hoses and cables get dirty, wear faster and can catch on the moving parts. On top of that, hydraulic hoses are heavy and stiff, and they need a wide bend to move without being damaged.

We started with engineering: the travel length, the hoses and cables that need to move with it and the space along the machine bed. Based on that, we chose a cable carrier from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp with an open design of sturdy links and metal crossbars, rated for the weight of the hydraulic hoses.

Inside the carrier, every hose and cable was given its own place, with a bending radius suited to the stiffest hose in the package. The carrier runs in a channel along the machine, so it stays guided in a straight line. The open design makes it easy to spot and clean away dirt, and the links are resistant to oil and grease.

Wisman Techniek handled the engineering and supplied the carrier complete with the mounting brackets for both ends.

The hoses and cables of the tube bending machine now move in an orderly way in a cable carrier along the full travel length. They no longer lie loose along the machine, no longer get caught in the moving parts and are better protected against oil and dirt.
